In 2004 YORGA made a link with a gardening group in Dijon
(the twin city of York). Dijon is a large sprawling city with a very
interesting ancient centre and lies in the middle of the wine-growing district
of Burgundy.
During Easter 2005 Carys and Tony Tew had an easy journey by
Eurostar to spend a very enjoyable few days with Gislhaine & Jean-Pierre Moreau in their village
of Savigny le Sec (12 miles from Dijon).
Together they explored much of Dijon and the surrounding countryside,
and also got to see the end of the famous Florissimo exhibition – a huge flower
and plant festival which takes place every 6 years.
Two other YORGA
members, David and Jan Clay, also stayed in Dijon shortly before Easter and
visited Florissimo at the beginning of the exhibition. That year the theme was orchids.
